What is a "macro"?

A "macro" is short for the word macronutrient. A macronutrient is comprised of three main nutrients that you body needs to stay energized. That is: protein, carbohydrates, and fats. You may be familiar with the term "counting macros". Well, its exactly as stated. When someone is counting their macros, they are essentially tracking their daily intake of protein, carbohydrates, and fats. 

Counting macros has become a popular weight-loss aid. Many find that while counting their macros, they are still able to eat the foods they like as long as they do not go over their projected amount of grams for protein, carbs, or fats per day.
